Top Six Weeding Tools You Need to Add to Your Toolshed

Dirt-covered gardening tools

You may have seen our most recent article, How Best to Weed Your Garden, which takes you through how to keep those weeds gone for as long as possible. But what we didn't venture into, and what you may still be wondering, is what tools you need to help you remove the weeds and guarantee to get down to the roots.

We have a few that we fill our trailers with before each day of landscaping here at Eternal Spring. We’ve taken the time to create a list of what we think you should purchase for your toolshed and where to get them.

1. Gardening gloves

As you start to pull, rake and clear your garden, it will quickly begin to take a toll on your hands. The roots - in some cases - have thorns, which will cause painful cuts. Simply put, gardening gloves will make your life a lot easier, and you can find some for just under $5 at Walmart.

2. Shovel

As mentioned in our previous article, a shovel is the one of the best ways to get the roots out of the garden, just make sure to dig deep enough. Walmart has shovels available for $15.98.

3. Screwdriver

Similar to a shovel, a screwdriver can help you get to the roots of the weeds. You can purchase one at Walmart for just under $5.

4. Rake

Once you’re finished shovelling the weeds and using your screwdriver to guarantee they are gone, you can use the rake to gather all of the debris and place it in your trimmings bag. You can purchase rakes from Walmart for less than $5.

5. Cultivator

After the weeds are out of the garden, you need to take that extra step of cultivating to stir up and aerate the soil. You can purchase a 4-Tine Cultivator at RONA for $17.39.

6. Salt and Vinegar

For those crack weeds that are a little difficult to remove, spray them with salt and vinegar. It can also be sprinkled on top of weeds in the garden. You can purchase these items at your local grocery store.

Weeding is one of those things that you have to do to maintain optimal appearance of your lawn. We know outfitting your toolshed with the items mentioned above can add up price wise - especially if you go with the more high-end tools - but trust us it’s worth it! Trying to weed your garden without tools is even more of a pain.
